Welcome to the Link School

Our small special school values all our learners equally, recognising their individual strengths, barriers and aspirations. It provides a calm and nurturing environment in which to flourish.

All of our learners have additional communication needs that present barriers to learning. As a school team we are driven by our school vision of “Achievement for All”, wanting our learners to overcome barriers and achieve their potential academically. Generalising learning into community settings, work and leisure opportunities as well as quality relationships is seen as a priority as we help our young people develop positive esteem and greater independence.

Leavers follow a pathway system from school entry, which enables them to access the most appropriate external courses for their ability – this includes Functional Skills, GCSE’s, ASDAN and BTEC courses. Academic learning is complemented through a joint educational and therapeutic model of support. The school has its own therapy team, consisting of Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and a School Counsellor who work towards helping young people overcome their barriers so they are in a place to learn continuously and make the most of the opportunities offered.
